After six years, the long awaited sequel to fan-favorite film Frozen was finally been released in theaters on Nov. 22.
Frozen 2 features the original star studded cast with powerhouses Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad reprising their roles as main characters Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf, respectively. This movie follows Elsa as she struggles to choose between her destiny and her family in an effort to correct the mistakes of the past.

In terms of the animation, this film clearly shows how far animation has come in the past six years. While the original movie’s animation was enticing enough to bring the characters to life, the new movie is able to step up from a basic cutesy cartoon style to one that captures the depth of the scenes and characters while still maintaining that Disney magic. The level of detail and coloring in the sequel adds to a more realistic feeling matching the more real life themes within this movie.

The soundtrack from the first Frozen movie was extremely popular with viewers with songs “Let it Go” and “Love is an Open Door” being just a few of the smash hits from the film. Frozen 2 does not disappoint with its own soundtrack including Menzel’s “Into the Unknown”, and Groff’s musical debut in the series “Lost in the Woods”. With both Groff and Menzel having extensive history on Broadway, both songs are very impressive and catchy.

Prior to seeing the movie, many fans were skeptical as to whether it would live up to the high expectations created for it by the popularity of the first movie. Although some people were not as impressed by the soundtrack for this film as they were for the first one, viewers still loved the plot of the film overall, and it is sure to please young Anna and Elsa fans when they go see it. Regardless of age, the film masterfully grows with its audience, appealing to fans from six to sixty. While the film didn’t indicate any cliffhangers, fans remain hopeful for another installation in the film, eager to keep the series and everyone’s favorite optimistic snowman alive.
