Thirty-two years ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers won the world series against the Oakland Athletics. On Tuesday October 20, the Dodgers ended their drought as they went on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1. The Los Angeles Dodgers have gone through many ups and downs and a few chances to end their world series drought years prior. The Dodgers have made three appearances in the last four years in the world series and have finally become victorious.

At Globe Field that night, The Dodgers defeated the Rays to capture their 7th world series and first since 1988. Everyone a part of the Dodgers ball club was excited and happy that they finally captured a World Series after falling short two other times. Despite the MLB season being an unusual season, game six of the world series got weirder for the Dodgers in particular.

During the seventh inning, the Dodgers pulled Justin Turner. Turner is their starting third baseman and was balling out for them, especially when it mattered in the series. Turner seemed to vanish from the game and it led the fans and viewers at home confused. It seemed like the Dodgers were either trying to throw the game or something happened behind the scenes that no one knew about. After the completion of the game, it was reported that Turner was pulled from the seventh inning because he tested positive for the Coronavirus. Turner’s test result came back during the middle of the game and it came back positive after already playing most of the game and being around tens of people.

During the Dodgers celebration, Turner came to rejoin the team to celebrate the victory, despite being positive for Covid-19. He wore a mask as he returned, but everyone was divided on whether he should be able to celebrate their once in a lifetime accomplishment or not be able to.

While the MLB started its season late due to the coronavirus, the virus found a way to come back towards the end of this year’s unique season. With the virus still being a problem, the MLB start time for next season is up in the air where it could start normally in April or the virus could cause another short season.
