Free food paired with breathtaking performances attracted a large crowd to the choir room for Coffee House on Feb. 23. Compared to the previous one in December, this crowd was significantly larger; so many students attended that they had to squeeze together, and take up all possible space, in order to fit all those in attendance into the room.

The event began with opening remarks from Michael Cappabianca and Jill Cuzzolino, two of Tri-M’s leading members. Before each live performance, art students showcased one of their best pieces to the audience. One of the many amazing art pieces was displayed by Sophomore Tessa Norfleet in her pastel colored pencil drawing called “Only Skeleton Bones Remain.”

The first live performance was by Seniors Hana Balawan and Julia Nelson who sang a cover of “Cringe” by Matt Maeson. The two seniors set the bar high with Palawan’s magical piano playing and Nelson’s soothing voice. Newcomers and returning performers alike continued to wow the audience as the night progressed.

One of the most memorable moments of the night was the performance of pop song “God’s Plan” by Shravya Kamaraju and Natalia Roney who took an acoustic take to Drake’s billboard hit. It was a crowd favorite as the room echoed the chorus during the performance.

People will have the opportunity to showcase their talents once again at the next Coffee House in the spring.
