Hillsborough Dunkin Donuts on the intersection of Route 206 and New Amwell Road serves as a great study spot for teens.

For years, libraries served as the most popular study spot for people all over the nation. Before the internet was so accessible for everyone, libraries had computers, databases, and obviously a wide selection of books. High schoolers were able to study freely and in a quiet environment.

Times, however, have changed. Libraries became more popular and crowded, while, at the same time, the internet and computers became more accessible and forcing students to seek alternatives. Today, teens in Hillsborough enjoy studying in a different setting.

Dunkin Donuts is an example of the changing landscape in study settings. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (as opposed to the Hillsborough Township Public Library’s hours of 9:30-9:00) students are able to come here anytime to hit the books. Dunkin also has free internet access, which some argue is faster and stronger than the Library’s internet connection. Finally, Dunkin has good and affordable coffee to provide sleep and energy deprived high schoolers with enough caffeine to get all of their work done.

Senior Gianna LoCicero is a frequent customer, and study warrior, at Dunkin Donuts.

“My favorite part about studying at Dunkin is the atmosphere,” LoCicero said. “Whenever I come in, a few of my peers are usually there and will always lend a helping hand if I have a question or need help with a problem.”

From serving up coffee to offering a spot to study which smells like donuts as opposed to moldy books and carpet, the classic American coffee spot might have to change its slogan to “Students Run on Dunkin.”
