The season for the Lady Raider’s came to a close on Feb 27 as they fell just short in the quarterfinals of Central Jersey Group 4 tournament to a great Marlboro team. Coming in as the seventh seed, the Lady Raider’s gave a great fight, but ultimately lost 78-71 to the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

Juniors Elissa Nsenkyire and Grace O’Connor led the team in scoring with 23 and 14 points, respectively. Freshman Morgan Hodorowski chipped in 10 points as well in the loss. The Lady Raiders were leading Marlboro 53-43 after the third quarter, however, they were outscored 35-18 in the fourth.

Nonetheless, it was an up and down season for the Lady Raiders. After starting the season 7-3, the team took a little dip losing the next couple of games. Despite this, the team eventually finished .500 at 13-13.

This season has been one of the most successful in recent years. With having four seniors, the team was mostly comprised of underclassmen, including two freshmen. Senior Lisa Ross shared her thoughts on the eventful season.

“I’m so happy with our season and how we’ve come together as a team,” Ross said. “It felt so good to see how far we’ve come compared to past seasons of LRB.”

Although this season has shown promise for the future, it is always a sad time knowing that the senior class played their last game; it is an emotional time knowing that their careers are now over.

Senior Peyton Quackenbush commented on finishing her final season of high school basketball:

“It felt nice playing my last basketball game with my whole family there supporting me,” Quackenbush said. “I’m really proud of all the team accomplished this season.”
