Over the past decade, an enormous amount of talent has passed through HHS. Musicians, singers, and other performers have graced these halls, often going on to enter careers in the arts.

On March 9, many of these talented alumni returned to the auditorium to contribute their efforts to raise money for a good cause. The Boro4Bo benefit concert featured over 30 former HHS students, many of whom contributed to multiple performances by singing and playing instruments like guitar and piano.

Graduates ranging from the classes of 1995 to 2018 chose to take part in the event. In a special song, Angela Clerico Knowles, the 1995 alum, teamed up with her mother, a class of 1972 graduate, to perform a beautiful duet.

Carlee Ahart, 2018 graduate, represented the most recent class, playing piano and enthralling the audience with her voice.

“It was a fantastic evening of music and catching up with alumni from the past 25 years,” organizer Bob Fenster said. “The fact that it boosted our fundraising totals to over $5,000 is gravy.”

Dozens of local citizens, school faculty, students, and family and friends of alumni attended the concert, which was intended to raise funds for an extremely underprivileged school in Sierra Leone. With the donations and proceeds from the event, Fenster estimates that Boro4Bo will be able to donate at least three computers to the vastly insufficient computer lab at the school.

Previously, donations to the organization were used to print, bind, and ship study materials for a major state exam. Fenster expressed his satisfaction at the success of the concert.

“The Hillsborough High School community has made a real difference in the lives of hundreds of students in Sierra Leone,” Fenster said.
