The Raiders have done it again with another impressive takedown, this time it was the Franklin Warriors who fell victim to Hillsborough’s undefeated team. On Fri, Sept 20. the game was dedicated to Chris Koll, the former who student passed away after a long battle with Leukemia in May 2018. The student section made sure to deck themselves out in orange (the color of Leukemia awareness) in support for Koll, and many of the football players added orange accents to their uniforms to show support as well.

The annual Hillsborough vs. Franklin game is always one to look forward too. Both teams are stacked with talented players and every year each team comes to win. Last year, the Raiders and the Warriors faced off in a close 42-37 battle, with the Raiders coming out on top.

This year, the game started off slow for the Raiders with the Warriors up 13-0 in the first quarter, the Raiders quickly came back in the second quarter after junior Sean Levonaitis had a three-yard touchdown rush. After the break, the Raiders came back on the field with a fiery spirit and Levonaitis made another two-yard touchdown rush leaving the score 13-14.

Senior quarterback Tommy Ramsey scored a touchdown and rushed a combined 255 yards with Levonaitis against the Warriors. Senior Justin Dietrich also scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter and senior Frank Wasserman scored a field goal, solidifying the score as 13-30. The Raiders finished the game on a 30-0 run.

“We made some costly mistakes in the first half and then we came out of halftime determined to win,” senior Ric Sarkar said. “It was a hard-fought game but in the end we dominated them.” The Raiders will go to Hunterdon Central Fri. Sept 27 to face the Red Devils for their fourth game. Hopefully, their victory streak will continue.
