Hillsborough Rolls Past Colonia: Improves to 5-2
October 25, 2019
Oct. 18, the Raiders looked to bounce back after two tough losses against two of the top teams in the conference in Ridge and Phillipsburg. With not only the previous losses fueling their motivation, it was also senior night for the team. Knowing it was their last regular season home game, the Raiders looked to secure a big win.
“Senior night is always a special night because we celebrate our players who have been with us mostly all four years,” Head Coach Kevin Carty Jr. said. “This was an outstanding senior class who not only had tremendous ability, but great leadership. All of the coaches had been thrilled to work with this senior class.”
The Raiders dominated both sides of the ball the whole night. The defense came out strong limiting Colonia to only 70 yards the whole night. Senior Tj Schultz led the defensive unit with nine tackles on the night. Seniors Jon Seaton, Tim Franks, and Ric Sarkar were consistent forces on the line shutting down the run game.
Meanwhile, senior quarterbacks Tom Ramsey and Andrew Rygiel combined for 78 yards in the air, and 33 on the ground to go along with three touchdowns. Senior Matt Michinard, sophomore Thomas Amankwaa, and junior Sean Levonaitis each hauled in a touchdown.
Levonaitis also added 79 yards on the ground, and senior Justin Dietrich carried the ball for 74 yards as well.
The Raiders impressed all in attendance with their performance on Friday night and look to keep it going. They are going to finish their regular season with two consecutive away games at East Brunswick and Piscataway. If they can continue to play at this level, it will be very challenging for opposing teams looking to stop them.
“We’ve just been trying to do the little things right,” Seaton said. “Attention to detail and physicality are pivotal, and we’re just trying to take it one week at a time.”
