To some of the people in this world, cancer has had a massive impact on their lives. Sadly, cancer brings pain and suffering to too many people. However, it seems people are more inclined than ever to come together and campaign for a cure.

This is never more evident than the event at the Hillsborough YMCA. This Saturday, FTK (For the Kids) Dance Marathon hosted by the Embrace Kids Foundation will take place from 5-11:00 p.m.. The idea is to have people dancing and raising money the entire time.

For the Kids Dance Marathon at YMCA on Nov. 21 from 5-11:00 p.m. One of the people leading the event is senior Kelly Drake. Drake is a cancer survivor herself and wanted to raise money so that other kids can get all the proper treatment that they need.

“Being a patient and knowing that there are people out there are people out there who really want to help, makes treatment a little more bearable,” Drake said.

The goal for the event is to have each person raise $100, but that can be easily exceeded. Another goal is to just have people show up and have a good time for a good cause. Having people care is always a positive and can greatly help a child in need.

The event will provide food, color-wars, dance-offs, and even a video game tournament.

“I believe that it is a great way to get involved with not only the school, but also the community,” Drake said. “I also hope that people will have fun because I know I will.”

If you are looking to make a difference on Saturday, or even just looking for something to do, then look no farther than our local YMCA. Show up at the YMCA and help a child in need.
