Narcos offers gritty portrayal of Columbia during the Reagan years

You may not like television shows that revolve around drugs and violence, but on the off chance you do, then you should be watching the hit show, Narcos. The director of the RoboCop remake, Jose Padilha, is back with this brand new crime drama. From cocaine smuggling to DEA agents, the rise and death of Pablo Escobar is displayed throughout this Netflix series.
The narrative is mostly told from the points of view of Pablo Escobar, played by Wagner Moura, and DEA agent Steve Murphy, played by Boyd Holbrook.The crime drama, set in 1980s Colombia, displays how Escobar and his gang of crooks are collecting $420 million a week via its drug cartel. Released at the end of August, Narcos took flight in the minds of millions of Netflix viewers and will not be landing anytime soon.
The acting from the cast could be award-winning. The emotions are so realistic that you start to think you are apart of the drama. In addition to the fantastic acting, the cinematography is also outstanding. The transitions and compositions are brilliant from shot to shot. With the show featuring mostly drug affiliated murders, it also brings together the politics between the United States and South America during the uprising of the cocaine wars. After the positive response from both viewers and critics, Narcos will be releasing a second season early in 2016. But don’t be down on yourself if you haven’t joined the new craze. As it gets colder and colder throughout the fall, you might just want to sit inside and give yourself the entertainment you deserve.
