January 8, 2020
In 1995, a film released named Jumanji won the hearts of viewers with its compelling story about a young boy who gets sucked into a board game and is freed by two young kids decades later. In 2017, this classic film was revamped following a similar story line about four teenagers who get pulled into the Jumanji universe via video game, and have to fight their way out together. The sequel to this blockbuster film was released into theaters on Dec. 13 entitled Jumanji: The Next Level.
Jumanji: The Next Level follows main character Spencer as he ventures back into the video game version of Jumanji. When his friends find out he has gone back into the game, they follow Spencer to save him, but the game is now broken and getting home safe is going to be much harder than the last time.
This movie features big stars including Dwayne Johnson, Danny Devito, and Kevin Hart. Johnson’s and Hart’s great friendship in real life transfers to fantastic chemistry on screen, providing an extremely funny and entertaining performance for audiences.
With cast members as funny as Hart and Jack Black, the first installment in the new Jumanji franchise delivered many laughs. Sequels can sometimes be lacking in certain areas, but this second film provided just as much humor as the first with clever body swapping of characters.
Jumanji: The Next Level also features a fantastic soundtrack including “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses, which matches the setting of the jungle world in which the the game takes place.
Just as the first movie did, this one also brings great thriller moments and surprises to the audience. As soon as you think you know where the characters are headed, something crazy happens only adding to the excitement of watching this new film.
Overall, Jumanji: The Next Level lives up to all expectations, and is sure to continue impressing viewers and rising in the box office.
