On Feb. 14, the boys swim team traveled to East Brunswick to compete in the NJSIAA Tournament final round of Central Group A. Winning the Sectional Finals 92-78, the Raiders handled East Brunswick with ease.

Junior Kartik Kher placed first in the 200 Freestyle breaking a two minute time. Senior James McChesney finished strong earning first place for the 50 Freestyle with an impressive time of 22.2 seconds. McChesney additionally earned first place in the 100 Freestyle, 200 Free Relay, and 400 Free Relay totaling four events. Sophomore Matthew Kunkiewicz got a first place finish in the grueling 500 Freestyle event finishing just over five minutes.

“It feels good to be able to contribute and really be part of the team,” sophomore Matthew Kunkiewicz said. When asked about the challenges the team will face next season, he talked about how excited he was to see how the team will replace this year’s seniors.

“This was the boys third sectional title in the past five years,” head coach Todd Sudol said. “I am proud of all of them and it is always really special for the seniors who got to finish their last season as champs.” The seniors on this team have accomplished much in their time at HHS and left a legacy for the athletes after them.
