You may have noticed that there are people wearing shirts with what appears to be senior Sean Plaskon emblazoned on the front. Your eyes do not deceive you. Large groups of senior guys have been seen wearing them, some in long sleeve and some in short sleeves. On the shirt, there is a guy throwing up the three goggles with the saying “100% chance of rain” on the back.

This guy on the t-shirt is senior basketball player Sean Plaskon. He is the star and creator of the shirt because he and his friends believed that since he is almost exclusively a three-point shooter, the shirt would poke fun at his proclivity to shoot the rock from beyond the three-point arc. They weren’t the only ones to think this way and thus the Shnake shirts were born.

The shirts got their name from a nickname Plaskon got back in Auten Road. It was then that the movie “Escape” was out and there was a guy in the movie named Snake Plisskin. This sounded similar to Plaskon’s own surname, and he was tagged with the nickname, Snake. It wasn’t until a little bit later that the name evolved to Shnake.

So far, the people who have gotten the shirts have had nothing but positive comments to say.

Senior Jimmy Suseck described the shirt as “life changing”, senior Cole Norfleet said they are “innovative”,  while senior Matt DiDomenico called them “inspiring”.

For the low price of $9 for the short sleeve edition or $12 for long sleeves, the shirts are designed to move off the shelves. They’re very affordable because Plaskon isn’t doing this to make a profit. He is just looking for everyone to come together as a school and have the best basketball fan section that we can have.

While every sports team has a sort of “theme” that the fans dress to express, this year for basketball, every game will be a supposed “Shnake Out”. This means that for every game that the boys team takes the floor, there will be students in the crowd wearing Shnake shirts. While his intention was for basketball season, he is also a member of the Volleyball team where the shirts will once again be present.

Shnake shirts are going to become a staple for student sections throughout the year, as they are already growing in popularity. If you want to be apart of all the themes for basketball, then purchase either a short sleeve or long sleeve shirt. Throughout the year, make sure you always bring an umbrella, cause there’s going to be a 100% chance of rain when Plaskon, aka Shnake is hoisting shots from downtown.
