November 11, 2020
With the colored lights illuminating the background and the smoke machine creating a wall of fog between him and his audience, senior Casey Kiernan excitedly prepares to sing and play his heart out for his opening song, “All My Life” by the Foo Fighters.
Kiernan not only has been practicing music for 10 years, but he also has varied interests. He organizes several rock bands, is an avid participant in the Peer Mentor Program, and more recently, has secured the position of Vice President for the HHS Student Council.
In his younger years, Kiernan became a dedicated musician. After first hearing about the Beatles, his interest in rock music rapidly developed into a lifelong passion of his. As of today, he has been practicing guitar as well as bass guitar for 10 years, drums for 7 years, and vocals for 3 years.
Kiernan has incorporated his musical prowess into his daily life by creating and leading bands, such as “The Forever Plan,” “Vegan Bicycle,” and “The Promotion,” alongside his friends. Additionally, he has released solo music which can be found on his Soundcloud; among this includes a debut album titled “BiblioGraffiti”.
Even outside of the world of music, Kiernan has thrived and established himself as a leader. He was selected to be a Peer Mentor for his junior year and actively participates in the modules every month. In addition to being a Peer Mentor, Kiernan has most recently been elected to a Student Council officer position for the second year in a row. After a productive year as Secretary in the 2019-2020 school year, Kiernan was elected once again for the 2020-2021 school year, this time as the Vice President. As Vice President, he is ready to lead the Student Council and contribute all of his ideas like different spirit activities, and he is already working to make this school year enjoyable for all students.
When he isn’t juggling the responsibilities of writing music or participating in his leadership roles, Kiernan spends his downtime relaxing at the beach alongside his family. More specifically, Lavalette is where he spends his off days at the beach. As Kiernan explains, “It reminds me of family and friends and stuff; it helps me relax and take my mind off the things that stress me out.”
Overall, Kiernan is a very successful individual for his age. With deep passions and a knack for leadership, there is no doubt that he will thrive in his future.
