Call of Duty Continues to Impress with the New Release of Cold War
January 15, 2021
Call of Duty continues to produce the most addicting games for the public, especially teens, to play and entertain themselves on gaming consoles like Xbox, PlayStation and PC. Recently, the creators of Call of Duty continue to impress with the new release of Cold War on November 13, 2o2o.
The first person shooter is developed by Treyarch and Raven Software while being published by Activision. It is the sixth installment in the Black Ops series, and the seventeenth installment in the overall Call of Duty series, serving as the direct sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) and the direct prequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops II (2012).
The game consists of three main modes of play: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. Campaign is set during the Cold War in the early 1980s. The story is inspired by actual events and features locations such as East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, and the Soviet KGB headquarters. Newly added with the release, players can create a custom character for the campaign, codenamed Bell, with options for different skin tones, ethnic backgrounds and genders, as well as different personality traits that provide in-game perks. By doing this, the ending will vary for all players.
Multiplayer features new and returning game modes, as well as maps that accommodate both the traditional 6v6 format, as well as larger 12v12 combat. The game also introduced a new game mode named “Fireteam”, which can support up to 40 players. There is also an addition of new maps with the return of older maps, such as the famous Nuketown.
And finally the fan favorite, Zombies. Zombies finally makes a return after being absent in Modern Warfare and the creators did not skip a beat. Die Machine is currently the only map in Zombies but it is keeping the players entertained as of now while the developers create newer and more improved maps. I certainly enjoyed the new Zmbies because it brought into little features from the previous games in the series all into one.
Cold War continues to impress with the new updates and will look even better on the new XBOX X and PS5. I highly recommend it to anyone who has played any Call of Duty ever. Get it sooner than later and you will not regret it.
