Senior soccer superstar Kara Magliaro has been standing out on the field since she was a young freshman. After working her way up through the rankings, Magliaro has proudly finished her senior year as captain of the girls varsity soccer team. Most recently, Magliaro has committed her talent to continue her academic and athletic career for the next four years at TCNJ. From being a four-year letter earner on the field to a conscientious student in the classroom, Magliaro is a stellar student-athlete.

However, all her success has not come easily, Magliaro has faced hardships along the way. During her freshman year, Magliaro broke her collar bone during a soccer game in November of 2017. After surgery which resulted in six screws and a plate in her collar bone, and lots of recovery time, Magliaro was able to return to the field mid-March of 2018. With the help of her Boro Girls Soccer family and the teammates she had on her travel soccer team, Magliaro was able to ease back into the sport she loves.

During her freshman debut, Magliaro scored three goals throughout the season before her injury. For her junior season, Magliaro scored an impressive total of eight goals for the Raiders. Finishing out her career, Magliaro scored five goals during the shortened season this year. “Being in the BGS program has really made a difference in my life because of the amount of people that became like family to me,” said Magliaro.

Magliaro has gained experience on and off the field throughout high school. If she could leave her underclassmen teammates any words of wisdom, she would let them know that “high school really does fly by quickly in four years, have fun and live life to the fullest,” said Magliaro.

As she reminisces on her career at Hillsborough, Magliaro’s favorite game by far was played this year against Hightstown. It was the second to last game of the incredibly unique season where Magliaro scored twice for the Raiders and had an assist for one of her teammates. Because of the team’s incredible performance, they were able to progress to the second round of the state tournament.

“Being in the BGS program has really made a difference in my life because of the amount of influential people who’ve become like family to me,” Magliaro said. “It was probably the best four years of my life and it was even better because my best friends were there with me playing the game we love.”
