The gymnastics team has finally concluded its extremely successful 2015-2016 season. The girls finished with a 10-0 undefeated record, capturing the Raider Invitational, counties, conferences and sectional titles on their way to placing an impressive 4th overall in states as a team.

Head coach Elizabeth Murrin was confident since the early part of the season that her team could finish as one of the tops squads in the state, let alone Somerset County.

“We feel really confident about what we are capable of,” Murrin said when asked if she believed the team could win a conference and state championship.

The girls also saw success at the individual level. Seniors Natalie Onderko and Sarah Pally tied for first at counties and finished just in front of teammate Kira Solt who took second.

Onderko placed 3rd on bars at states while Pallay was successful in states placing fifth on floor, seventh on beam and sixth overall.

“It’s been an amazing season, ” Pallay said. “Everyone worked well together and we had great chemistry.”

The team will graduate many key girls, but there are high hopes for the future. This year’s seniors have been a huge help to the younger girls on the team.

“The seniors kept the team together and were great leaders,” sophmore Stella Pashaian said.

This year’s team has the record and the awards to show for the leadership and togetherness, but the team’s ultimate goal was to have fun. Something a lot easier to accomplish when winning is part of the equation.

“A successful season is always defined as one where we continue to improve throughout and that we have a ton of fun doing so,” Murrin said.

The girls clearly performed at a consistently high level, but most importantly, the girls have been able to make it a memorable, fun experience.
