Sean Levonaitis: Old but Young, Never the Same
December 15, 2020
Although he may not be the biggest guy on the field, senior Sean Levonaitis packs a mighty punch. The 18-year-old football star is nothing short of incredible. Being one of the smaller, yet most successful players on the team allowed him to relay the message that it is not always the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
Starting at the age of 4, in the footsteps of his big brother, Levonaitis was bitten by the football bug. He had no other worries when he was on the field. He even described playing as a being in a “different realm”. One of Levonaitis’s greatest accomplishments was being able to play on varsity as a freshman, which not many people in the history of Hillsborough football have done. Even though football is a huge part of Levonaitis’s life, it is not all of who he is.
Outside of football, Levonaitis spends a lot of time with his siblings. Each of his siblings has played a different role in his life and have taught him many life lessons. His older brother, Scott, inspired him to play football and is always there to give him advice. His oldest sister, Stefani, is like a mother to him while his other sisters Rachel and Sam are the ones he goes to when he wants to have a fun time.
After graduation, Levonaitis plans to pursue some type of S.T.E.M. major in college. Also, if he receives a desirable offer, he may play football in college. Having support from his friends, family and teammates has motivated him to work hard for what he wants. As he enters his senior year, he asks himself “where has the time gone?”. It seems just as yesterday Levonaitis was putting on his football pads for the first time and with Covid-19 having a huge impact on HHS sports, he is unsure of when the last time may be. Throughout his high school career, Levonaitis has developed for the better thanks to this sport. Football has taught him that communication, dedication, and teamwork are huge aspects of life and that determination can get you through any roadblock you face.
As he begins to enter the real world, Levonaitis cannot help but realize that he will soon begin his life and that more and more changes are on the horizon. As he transitions into adulthood, enters the workforce, and eventually starts a family, he knows that the lessons he has learned throughout his childhood and teenage years will be very valuable for his future. And although he recognizes that he is getting older, his young, determined spirit renders him destined for greatness, adaptable to change, and ready for anything that may come his way.
