Released on Christmas, Disney’s new movie Soul has been all the rage in the film industry. Only available to watch on Disney+, Disney’s movie streaming service, Soul is undoubtedly one of the top films of 2020.

Directed by Pete Docter and starring actors Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey, this movie is about a middle-aged jazz fanatic named Joe. Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn’t quite gone the way he expected.

Joe’s true passion is jazz, and he’s very talented. One day Joe gets the opportunity of a lifetime and books his first jazz show. On the way there he falls into a sewer and unexpectedly dies to which his soul travels to the beyond. He is then faced with an unruly “pre-soul” who had no desire to live on Earth. He later discovers the true meaning of one’s soul and how he must honor the small things in life.

Receiving a score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.2/10 on IMDb, this movie tapped into the hearts of many viewers.

Soul strives to help us remember that life itself is a blessing, even when it doesn’t go as we planned,” Paul Asay from Plugged In movie reviews said.

Others were not as impressed with the film’s story but still found the film to be powerful.

“While not quite offering the emotional gut-punch it promises, its many ideas never completely cohering, Soul is nevertheless a gorgeous and tender existential trip,” Alex Godfrey from Empire said.

Overall, this movie sends a great message toward anyone who watches it teaching them to not only value the things in life but to value living in general and the experiences you have. This movie is most definitely worth the watch.
