HHS Senior Ava Curtis recently finalized her commitment to The College of New Jersey to continue her academic and athletic career. Curtis has been playing soccer since she was three years old, following in the footsteps of her two older sisters. From the beginning, she enjoyed participating in training classes to be the best player she can be, since her love for the game is in her blood.

Throughout her childhood, Curtis showed an advanced skill set, having made the Players Development Academy travel team at just seven years old. She has stayed with this team and grown a lot over the last 10 years. As a member of the highest level of girls soccer in the country, Curtis has traveled to many places and attended numerous tournaments to help her team win. In high school, Curtis has been on the varsity team for all four years and was the coach’s top choice for team captain this year. During her sophomore year, she made second-team all-conference, and in her junior and senior years, she made first-team all-conference, meaning that she was recognized as one of the best players in the conference on NJ.com for everyone to see. This is just one time where Curtis received accolades for her talent, and there is definitely more to come.

After a couple of years in the recruitment process, Curtis verbally committed to TCNJ this August, and just had to wait for finalized details about her application. Now, she is officially a TCNJ Lion and is extremely excited about the next four years of her soccer career. Both of her sisters also studied at TCNJ and were named team captains, and she is looking forward to joining one of them this coming fall. Curtis thanks her family, friends, all her teammates over the years, and the coaches that have supported her from the beginning.
