Originally planned for release in November 2020, Godzilla vs Kong finally hit theatres on Mar. 31. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of this film was pushed back 4 months. Having to wait even longer to watch this already hyped-up movie, fans were even more eager to rush into theaters as soon as this movie was released.

With an estimated budget of $160 million, Godzilla vs Kong has made $357.8 million in box office revenue in just over 2 weeks and is currently on the rise.

While trying to find the true home of Kong, Godzilla is aggravated by something which then starts the dominance battle between Godzilla and Kong. Without revealing too many details of this astonishing film, the battles between Godzilla and Kong are intense and impossible to turn away from. The CGI in Godzilla vs Kong is top-notch and beyond realistic.

On top of the amazing fight scenes between these two titans, this film has a perfect balance between character dialogue and gory battle moments. We are shown sweet moments between some characters and aggravated arguments between others. On top of all of this, we are presented with a special bond between an orphaned deaf girl named Jia and the titan Kong. Such an innocent bond between a small child and Kong touched the hearts of many in the audience.

Some might say the film tends to favor Kong in a way, you feel a little sorry for Godzilla. This is very much Kong’s film. Godzilla seems he can’t catch a break. During the first eight minutes of screen time in the first of the franchise, he totaled something and is almost immediately positioned as the bad guy here. A now adult Kong, with his grizzly beard, has developed a personality. He’s kind to orphan Jia and observes a morning routine involving yawning comically and unabashedly scratching his butt. With Kong being this favored, Godzilla just seems underserved.

However, if you ever enjoyed either movies growing up, King Kong or Godzilla, I highly recommend it. It is action packed with attention grabbing fighting scenes. Overall, even with the unexpected delay Godzilla vs Kong is an incredibly well-made film. With nail-biting fight scenes and unexpected bonds between man and beast, Godzilla vs Kong is an amazing movie theatre experience and is worth watching as soon as possible.
