Heading into his third year at Hillsborough High School, Principal Jeffrey DiLollo said he is here to stay.
“I love it here. I’m young enough to have several years still ahead of me work wise, but old enough to say this is the last job I’ll have,” he said.
DiLollo makes his care for the staff and students known and shares what makes Hillsborough special. “So many things, our diversity, our ability to come together and be respectful towards classmates, the amount of programs we offer, but most importantly the caring supportive staff and student population.”
As our principal, DiLollo has made many changes to improve our school environment and programs, but he said he believes that changes should be made as a team. He said some of these changes have even come from students, specifically our all-gender bathrooms, changes to schedules, and even our policies around cell phones. In addition, he is considering some changes to our schedule to make it more student-centered for future years.
DiLollo also shared his thoughts about the November 2023 referendum. “Build Boro Back was one of them which called for additional staffing throughout the district including security and the second initiative was to reinstate funding in both of those instances. Our board of education and supportive community expressed their commitment to reinvest in our young people. It has been paying off in dividends. We’ve been able to expand programming, add new course offerings and bring on a security team to ensure safety for all.”
Some interesting facts about DiLollo are that he worked at three different places before Hillsborough. In his last position, he worked in the Wayne district as a vice principal. Before that, he worked in Randolph as district supervisor and athletics director. He began his career in education teaching history and psychology at West Morris. DiLollo is married to his wife Katrina, and they have a son named Lincoln. As for pets, he has three: a dog named Archie, a turtle called Flip, and a fish whose name is Skittles. In his free time, he likes to bike, hike, and read history.
