With hard throw-ins, fierce defensive plays, and intense headers, the JV Girls soccer team fought off Bridgewater during a tough 0-4 loss at the September 18 matchup.
Coach Katina DeKranis said, “It was a tough loss. We could have played a little stronger. We have some things to work on when we play them later this season.” During practice the girls worked on strengthening their ability to work together and play on a team, she said.
“We had to connect more on the team,” said number 44, Cami Miller, a freshman. “The more games we have, we will work on it.”
Team captain Vivian Wasserman was not particularly satisfied with the loss, saying “As a team we will change the way we play to have a more successful final outcome.”
At the game, many supportive peers of the girls on the soccer team attended the game, as well as various other viewers coming to support the team.
The starting goalie for Hillsborough, number 40, Kayden Miranda, a sophomore, had a number of saves, especially in the first half, when Bridgewater attempted multiple goals, but only scored four total goals.
The girls team returns to face Bridgewater-Raritan again for a chance at redemption on Saturday, October 26, at Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, at 1:30pm.
