As the winds become cooler, and the leaves start to fall from the trees, boro students start to switch up their style. Fall trends spotted in Boro include airpods, flannels, UGGs, hoodies, sweatpants, and leggings.
Though he doesn’t typically have a certain style during the fall season, Mr. Jeffrey DiLollo, the principal of Hillsborough High School, shares that flannels, a fall staple, are one of his favorite things to wear outside of school. DiLollo said, “I own about 15 flannels.” Even though he doesn’t have input on the students’ clothing at HHS, he said he has noticed that single airpods are a trend. “When an airpod is found, it is usually only one, because the student has the other one in their ear,” DiLollo said.
Fall also represents the start of a new school year. DiLollo said that the season gives a good indication of what the school year as a whole will be like he said. “I have a sense it’s going to be a really great year, with great energy,” he said
Mila Uhrlass, a freshman at Hillsborough high school, gives her perspective of different styles she has seen throughout the school year so far. Some of her favorite styles are Uggs, specifically the minis, or any form of slippers, low rise jeans with a cut sweater, and slick backs on days when she’s having a bad hair day or on wash day. “I also really like wearing Brandy Melville clothing, especially their sweatpants because they have many different colors, and their clothing has a very soft material, ” Uhrlass said. She has noticed a lot of people wearing camouflage hoodies, or sweater pants with trees, and leaves on them as well.
Sophomore Claudia Ramierzkrupa has noticed several interesting styles in her peers this fall. “My favorite style right now at this moment in the fall is hoodies, and leggings, but the hoodie has to be stylish, like blinged out,” Ramirezkrupa said. She has noticed a lot of “old clothes” coming back, from the 2000s. Ramirexkrupa also notices there is a lot of baggy clothing too such as jeans and shirts. “Another thing I see is that jewelry-wise people wear both a variety of gold and silver a lot, and lots of chunky jewelry,” she said.
Other students shared their style preferences. “My favorite style to wear is sweaters, hoodies, vest, and Uggs,” junior Adriana Gonzalez said. She likes wearing these clothes in the fall because they are “cozy and cute for fall weather.” She said she has noticed most people wearing a variety of hoodies, UGGs, beanies, vests, and necklaces. “I see a lot of people always have airpods or headphones in,” she said.
Marissa Panchery, a senior, said, “Now that the weather has changed, my favorite styles are light jeans, with either a fall-colored sweater, sweatshirt, or a flannel paired with UGGs.” For shoes, she noticed a spike with UGGs and Sambas. Panchery said different shades of pink and cheetah print are making a comeback paired with bows as an accessory.
Senior Caroline Coakley said, “Fall is my favorite season, especially when it comes to fashion.” She said she loves being able to wear sweaters, specifically ones with fun patterns, and she pairs them with baggy jeans, denim skirts, or flared leggings. She said, “Ugg slippers, and boots are definitely my go-to shoes, as well as Dr. Marten loafers.” Coakly said comfy styles reign, including wide leg sweatpants, as well as baggy, wide leg jeans. She said, “Fall is filled with so many fun things, and wearing a good outfit makes the season ten times better.”
