From all-American to Indian cuisine, Hillsborough’s food and restaurant options are loved by many. While most of these places are highly rated by their customers, there seems to be a fan favorite: Italian food. From pizza to all kinds of pasta and ravioli, the many Italian restaurants in town offer many food choices, accommodating their local community and devoted customers.
One local favorite is Angelo’s Pizzeria. “I’ve been going for so long that they know me by name,” said Mr. Christopher Guzy, a math teacher.
Besides Angelos, Ama Pizza is a favorite for Italian food. Mrs. Dana Richens, a math teacher at Hillsborough High School, noted that the restaurant has a nice ambiance and is wonderful for friends and families. She said they have a good variety of food for all people to enjoy, as well as some delicious desserts. The staff and waiters are constantly accommodating to their customer’s needs, making sure everyone is happy with their food and experience. “My husband and I enjoy the dinner specials. The quality of the food is excellent,” she said.
Math teacher Mrs. Elizabeth Watts enjoys Lenny’s Pizza and Pasta. “The people there are always so nice and accommodating, and the food there is great,” she said.
Other than Italian food, American fare is also popular. Old Man Rafferty’s is an American restaurant that is famous for their boom boom shrimp, a crispy Tempura shrimp served with spicy sauce and steamed rice noodles. Mrs. Renee Mayo, the school counseling secretary, particularly said she loves this shrimp, as well as all of the other foods Old Man Rafferty’s has to offer. Another widely loved American restaurant is Tender Lovin Grill. It isn’t your typical restaurant, because they not only offer indoor seating for customers, they also have catering for large parties as well. “They have wings that I order for the football games,” said Mrs. Gerilyn McClaughry, secretary to the director of school counseling.
Fast food is also quite popular in Hillsborough. Places like McDonald’s, Taco Bell ,and Chipotle all prioritize providing fast and efficient service to their customers. At Chipotle, where locals mix and match ingredients to make their own curated meal, many people appreciate their bowls, tacos, and burritos. “I make a different meal every time I go there,” said Ms. Olivia Haas, a math teacher.
It’s safe to say that Italian restaurants are definitely popular with Hillsborough High School’s staff. Hillsborough has many Italian options including Ama Pizza, Angelo’s Pizzeria, Lenny’s Pizza and Pasta, Mama Fanti’s Italian Kitchen, Alphonso’s, Joe’s, Victor’s, and Cafe Piazza. Besides Italian food, all American and fast food restaurants are enjoyed as well. With all these options, Boro diners will not go hungry.
