Get ready to elevate your fast-food experience! Or not.

American online streamer and Youtuber has teamed up with McDonalds to create the Chicken Big Mac Meal  also known as the Kai Cenat Meal.  Starting October 10, fans have the chance to enjoy the Big Mac in a different way. If you’re outside the U.S, then you’re also in luck. The United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada already have the Chicken Big Macs on their menus. 

This new meal consists of the all-new Chicken Big Mac, along with a medium fry, and medium drink. Instead of a regular Big Mac with two beef patties, the new Big Mac has two breaded chicken patties. Just like the original, it comes with lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, and Big Mac sauce. 

We’re not sure why McDonalds felt the need to “improve” on a classic, but we have some thoughts. The Chicken Big Mac was most likely introduced to U.S locations due to the widespread  popularity of chicken sandwiches, so perhaps they  wanted to expand their menu and meet their customers’ demands. Another is competition. Lots of competitors such as Chick Fil-A feature popular chicken sandwiches. 

Students shared diverse opinions on the sandwich. Senior Gianna Salazar said, “I liked it, but the chicken wasn’t the same as the actual McChicken.” Another student, sophomore David Ramirez, said that he liked it, but it didn’t fit well with all the toppings on the Big Mac, while senior Taylor McCann said that he liked it better than the original Big Mac. 

Is the chicken big mac worth the hype? Without consensus from our fellow students, it seems there is only one way to find out. 

One of us had to try it. Alex opted out, so Essence volunteered. It was stomach-churning. It was off-putting chicken in the Big Mac instead of beef. None of the toppings really worked well with the chicken. Like the other students, we expected the chicken to be the same as the Crispy chicken sandwich, so we were, ultimately, disappointed after the first bite.

But life is too short not to expand your taste. Life’s all about taking risks and trying new things. So if you’re not sure whether or not you should get the new Chicken Big Mac, the answer is, you definitely should try it. Make sure you have extra napkins on deck: the big mac sauce is a delicious, drippy mess that is sure to get all over your hands and face. The only way to find out if it’s worth all the hype is to try it for yourself.
