On Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 10:30 PM, New Jersey American Water alerted their customers to the possible contamination of public water. Households, businesses, and schools relying on public water were all informed of the condition of the water.
The HHS Administration was alerted to the condition of the water and immediately turned off all of the water fountains throughout the High School. “With the alert going out to everyone, we took the necessary precautions for the safety of everyone at HHS,” said Steven Jablonski, Vice Principal of Facilities and Security. The administration took further action by providing staff and students with free bottled water and set up a water station in the commons. Until they are given the all clear, the administration will keep the water fountains turned off.
New Jersey American Water has provided no timeline of when they expect the water to be back to normal.
