Now that May has arrived, Hillsborough’s Class of 2025 awaits the most important day of their lives. Seniors prepare for their graduation by celebrating their last moments in high school such as their last spirit night, decision day, moments with their hometown friends, and more. During the application process, many steps are taken in applying to college such as taking the SAT or ACT, filling out FASFA, perfecting their college essay, and filling out documents that differ for each and every college. Now, the most memorable day for all seniors is approaching quickly and excitement is shared between the Class of 2025.
Tons of emotions are expressed and shown, as Hillsborough seniors’ big day quickly approaches. “As graduation approaches I’m feeling all sorts of mixed emotions; excited, nervous, scared but relieved that it’s all over,” senior Rijja Channa said. Mixed emotions are expected, graduating is a huge deal but also something very nerve-racking. Saying goodbye to friends, and family, for the students going away to school can be a moment that is hard to prepare for. “Emotions I am facing as I graduate are excited, motivated, and somewhat nervous,” senior Malachi Francois said.
Seniors are preparing extensively for their big graduation day.
“I’ve been sorting out everything I need for college to get that out the way for after graduation. I am making sure I have all my requirements for graduation as well as my outfit, “ said Channa.
“I am preparing my outfit for graduation actively and collecting myself as a whole,” Francios said.
As high school comes to an end shortly, time seems as if it is flying by. Many students cannot wait to get a fresh start and start college. “As graduation approaches I am facing a lot of excitement and fear. I am so excited to finally be done with high school and move onto bigger and better things. I can’t wait to meet new people and be able to have more freedom. But I am also scared because I don’t know what to expect, and I will miss all of my friends from high school,” senior Saige Cartagena said.
Looking ahead, it’s a time to embrace change, take risks and pursue passions. The memories created between students during these four years will stay with them for a lifetime. Graduating is not just an end but also a beginning. Students share what they are looking forward to on this important day. “I am mostly looking forward to having more freedom. I’m excited to enter a new chapter in my life and be able to study what I am interested in. Along with making new friends and new memories,” Cartagena said. “I’m looking forward to seeing everyone get their diplomas, and I’m excited to see everyone’s big step into their new adventures,” said Channa.
