From high notes to whispers, from wishbones to clovers, Conan Gray, a popular American singer and songwriter, released his fourth album “Wishbone.” Released Aug. 15, 2025, at midnight, the album includes all self-penned songs with the assistance of producers Dan Nigro, Ethan Gruska, Noah Conrad, Elvira Anderfjard, and Luka Klosser. Wishbone is Gray’s most successful debut out of his whole music career and reached number 3 on the U.S Billboard 200. His heart, voice, and vulnerability touches other hearts who listen worldwide. The collection of 11 songs, two of which are singles, “This Song” and “Vodka Cranberry.” Five songs are solo-credited tracks including, “This Song,” “My World”, “Class Clown”, “Connell” and, “Eleven Eleven.”
On the release date, Gray was interviewed on the Citi Concert Series Live Show.
“This album is so personal, he said “I started writing it in bed, or in random hotel rooms. I thought I wasn’t going to release any of it.” He crafted “Wishbone” as an album full of stories that describe his image as a person, the way he feels about his past relationships. This vulnerability is meant for his fans to connect or relate to from their own life relationships. Listening to Wishbone on repeat reveals the success of his goal.
This is the beauty of how “Wishbone” came to life. The first let of Wishbone Pajama Show, Gray’s current tour, included stops throughout the United States. Gray’s tour hit cities in Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Connecticut, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Missouri, Utah, California and Colorado. Looking to go to his concerts? If you missed the first leg, do not despair! You can catch Gray during the second leg of the tour. Gray has upcoming dates in 2026! He is playing on February 27th Newark, NJ, February 28th Belmont Park, NY, and March 2nd Philadelphia, PA.
When this album was released, so was a big part of Gray. The whole meaning behind his album comes together in the title, “Wishbone.” In the same interview, The Citi Concert Series, Gray talks about why he names his album Wishbone. “A Wishbone is one of the wishing rituals that requires two people that reminded me of relationships because there’s one winner and one loser,” Gray said. This is a creative comparison that Gray used to represent all his stories in the symbol of a Wishbone. As the audience, we are so lucky to hear his soothing voice sing about a side of him that would usually stay in his journal.
“Wishbone” is so special due to his use of storytelling. He and American actor, Corey Fogelmanis, play roles to represent two characters based on Gray’s past love relationships to paint out his story to us. These depictions guide us to the purpose of his songs, instead of songs with just lyrics and a beat. The best things about Gray’s work and performance are the authenticity and clever lines. Interpretation of Gray’s words are what makes him stand out. His lyrics are poetry. Poetry is a powerful form of saying things without saying it.
“Wishbone” is becoming my personal favorite album of his because every song connects together in the most subtle but exciting way. Similar to his other albums, although especially in Wishbone, every song makes you feel some type of way. You can listen to him when you’re at your lowest and your highest points. His songs vary from upbeat pop music or slow and dramatic pop music. If you do not like sad songs Wishbone may not be the album for you. And that’s okay! Gray has four studio albums. Each one has its own vibe and storylines. A suggestion of mine for listeners looking for a more fun vibe is, “Found Heaven.” Conan Gray is a genuine artist and more importantly a genuine human. “Wishbone” really shows this side of Gray. His vulnerability is beautifully written through the songs in Wishbone. Altogether, no matter what style of music you like, Gray is an artist that you can always rely on when you just need music. Music is immensely popular and has a great impact on people. As Gray said, “There’s wishbones and clovers and numbers from heaven.” Although these are just symbols of luck, they’re real. Even though Gray may be a new voice for you, it’s a voice that is worth hearing.
You can listen to “Wishbone” with music apps Spotify or Apple Music. Note that those apps do come with purchases. You can listen for free on Youtube or Soundcloud. His concert tickets cost an average of $300 a ticket and his tour has many upcoming dates. In New Jersey, Gray’s concert ticket ranges from $40 to over $100. Gray’s album is full of love, lust, regret, triumph, and acceptance. From high notes to whispers, from black cats to cracks on the pavement, I wish at 11:11 that you listen to the one and only album, “Wishbone.”
