CON: Bloom should not be sold in school

Bloom energy drinks have entered our school, leaving students with unhealthy side effects and addiction.
Categories:

As most of you know, we have Bloom energy drinks in our cafeteria fridge which causes problems for the students in our school because it has caused students to develop an addiction to energy drinks, and having more than 1 bloom energy drink every day. One bloom energy drink contains 180mg of caffeine, and even one energy drink every day is very bad and unhealthy for the student body. Excessive caffeine causes students’ bodies and hands to shake during the day, which can be caused by just one energy drink. Imagine what would happen if students are drinking two or more Bloom energy drinks per day. Some students in our school drink more than one energy drink per day, which is awful because it is unhealthy for students and students’ bodies.

Each morning, there is a line in the commons to buy these drinks. Could this be due to students’ addictions to them? After 30-40 minutes, the cafeteria needs to restock the fridge again due to the number of people who consume it and have formed a habit of drinking it each day.

Although it is marketed as a healthy alternative, Bloom can be really bad for you. Bloom is similar to a strong coffee with how much caffeine it contains which causes anxiety, and is especially bad for young teenagers who already experience anxiety. Caffeine makes their anxiety even worse than it is, it can also cause heart problems and sometimes lead to heart attacks, which should not be happening to kids around the ages 14-18. Teenagers should not need to experience health problems so young just because of energy drinks.

Some students may drink energy drinks because they have sports or activities after school, or they are just exhausted because they had to wake up early for school. These are not valid reasons to offer energy drinks in school. If they are athletes or participating in after-school activities, they may shake or have anxiety during practice and club meetings. Energy drinks may give students  a lot of energy in the beginning, but as soon as it wears off, it causes a student to crash. Bloom should not be sold in schools because it creates bad habits in young teenagers and gives them access to these harmful drinks.
