The Latin Honors Society hosted a movie night in the HHS commons on Dec. 16. While watching the presentation, the film “Night at the Museum,” attendees had an adventure of a time, sharing snacks, drinks, and laughter.
“[The LHS Movie Night] is a combination event, it’s a social event, but also a bit of a fundraising event,” said Brian Mumper, Latin teacher and advisor of the Latin Honors Society in regard to the purpose of the event. “We’re hoping to have a good time and raise a bit of money,” he said.
In addition to fundraising, the LHS also aimed to gain recognition through the event. “It is trying to get people to recognize our club, and it’s just trying to have a fun night in the school, not directly connected to our society, but just have fun in general,” said president of the Latin Honors Society Jonas Ruderer.
The LHS is also planning more events in the future. “We do the International Arts Showcase. We try and connect with Roman traditions and art, and the language,” said Ruderer.
Outside of that, the society also plans on doing more fundraisers in particular. “We do a couple things in the winter. We have a Valentine’s fundraiser, but our executive committee wants to do a lot more social events, so we’re gonna bump that up this year and get more people involved,” Mumper said.
The Latin Honors Society is just one of many groups hosting intriguing events such as this movie night at the high school. Other groups holding such events include the Anime and Manga club, which held a similar movie night on Jan. 29th. Make sure to be on the lookout for more upcoming events of this nature by clubs and other groups.
