This movie takes place in upstate New York, where Father Jud becomes a prime suspect after the death of another priest. The plot develops into a murder mystery, all while secrets, unfaithfulness and curiosity makes the community turn on itself. The characters’ relationships grow and blossom throughout the film, leading to them becoming lifelong friends.
This cinematic work, starring Josh O’Connor, Daniel Craig, Andrew Scott, and Jeremy Rennery, released in theaters on Nov. 26, 2025, and, as of Dec. 12, has been watchable on Netflix.
Since then, the movie created a spark in the film industry and students have enjoyed it as well. “As someone who takes video and film, and who loves watching movies, especially because of the soundtracks, I completely loved how the scenes blended and how it impacted the movie industry,” junior Rocco Avanzato said.
Not only was this movie a hit, the two prior parts of the film series were as well. The first movie, titled “A Knives Out Mystery,”and the second movie, titled “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” each seem to share a trend with their titles as well as the style of directing and cinematography.
“The third movie was exhilarating when I watched it. I was captured from the start with its scenery and how the script seemed perfectly written for it,” sophomore Josephine Whang said. On social media, some mentioned how the films sucked them into the plot, even feeling like they were a part of the mystery themselves. “Wake Up Dead Man demonstrates the best of what these films can offer: films focused on entertaining without sacrificing intelligence,” said Rachel Ho, commenting on the movie through the Rotten Tomatoes app.
Overall, this movie, along with the other two films in this trilogy, are a really good watch when you are in the mood for a murder mystery, or for a fun, exciting, and intelligent watch. The movie is available to watch now on Netflix.
