As the calendar turned from November to December, the holiday season got real. One aspect of this time of year that most look forward to is gift giving. This year, many gifts can be found on the lists of teens across Hillsborough, and ultimately across the country.

From video games, to clothing, to electronic devices, the gifts of 2015 cover a plethora of interests.

While a gift that you purchase depends greatly on the person’s interests, certain items seem to be recurring on everybody’s lists.

One gift of the season that is bound to be a popular one for both guys and girls is the iPhone 6s, Apple’s newest device. The phone is highlighted by its newest feature, 3D Touch, where the pressure you apply to the screen can allow you to conduct tasks in a quicker, more practical way.

“I’m really excited to hopefully get Apple’s most updated device,” sophomore Michael Shokoff said.

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are also among the hottest gifts of 2015. These newest video game consoles both provide great game-playing ability along with superb home entertainment options, such as  Blu-ray capabilities and the ability to access many apps such as Netflix or Pandora.  

For the video game lovers, new games find their way atop everybody’s lists as the holidays inch closer. Last year, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the game of the season. Two years ago it was Grand Theft Auto V that broke records in sales. This winter, four new games have been among the most popular. These are Fallout 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Halo 5: Guardians, and Star Wars Battlefront.

The annual sports video games, such as Madden or FIFA, are also popular during this holiday season.

A gift that is new this year is the hoverboard, a self balancing scooter that has been popular ever since it hit the market. Yes, the same type of hoverboard that was seen in the iconic Back to the Future Part II is on the gift list of many this year.

Regarded as one of the “coolest” gifts this season, hoverboards are very expensive however, often costing upwards of $500.

In regards to the fashion industry, many teens have items from the clothing and accessories company Vineyard Vines on their lists. From shirts to hats to ties to sweaters, Vineyard Vines provides a great variety of choices for both men and women. The company can be a bit pricey though, with items ranging from about $50 to over $200.

For students without a job, many items can be purchased within a lower price range.

Fans of music would greatly appreciate gift cards to either iTunes or Google Play, depending on their device. These gifts can be given with different monetary values, $10 and up. They can be used for not only music, but movies and apps from the app store as well.

Furthermore, jewelry and cosmetics are always popular, and can be purchased with a high or low budget.

Regardless of your budget, hopefully everyone has an easy time picking out special and meaningful gifts this holiday season.
