Last year was an unconventional year in all walks of life, especially in music. Last year marked the long awaited return of some artists as well as the rise of brand-new ones.

Adele said “Hello” just in time to say goodbye to 2015, leaving us with new promising material for the year to come. The track not only out did all of Adele’s previous hits but also captivated listeners with its entrenching theme about loss and regret.

It was also a year of loss for Hollywood when we saw Paul Walker for last time in the seventh installment of The Fast and Furious franchise. The upbeat Wiz Khalifa track, featuring Charlie Puth number one hit “See You Again” created a nice mix of rapping and vocals that truly honored the late actor and brought hope that Walker is resting in peace.

Rhianna returned to the music scene alongside Kanye West and Paul McCartney to deliver “FourFiveSeconds.” This raw, folk-pop song is unlike anything else of the modern day and blends a perfect mix of McCartney’s melodic instrumentation with Rhianna and West’s vocals. Even though the lyrical content is cryptic, one couldn’t help but be captivated by the composition as it truly was unique for 2015.

Last year was a big one for Ellie Goulding as she had a string of hits which included “On my mind”. This R&B track consists of hardcore beats along with scratchy guitars which compliment Goulding’s outstanding. The song will be on our playlists for years to come.

So, 2015 was a year of spectacular music, and one can only hope 2016 will bring more of the same.
