If you were asked to describe the perfect Friday night, you might mention a night filled with your closest friends, favorite music, and plenty of food. The HHS Coffee House held last Friday by Tri-M and National Art Honor Society had all of this and more.

Sitting on the steps of the choir room, students spent the night chatting with friends between acts, munching on delicious snacks, sipping a hot cup of tea or coffee, and enjoying the amazing musical performances and artwork of talented fellow HHS students.

Many students took the stage, including seniors Jaime Wouters, Derek Elwood, Matt Bardon, Raphael Jaucian, Coleen Tergevorkian, Kristina Choe, Olivia Bayer, Marj Calapatia, Julianna Bloch, Evan Smith, Minjoo Kim, Jacquelyn Jordan, Jess Mihalczo, Joe Caponegro, and Dana Cavagnaro, juniors Emma Seiwell, Nick Bruno, Catie Hawkes, Eric Kohlenstein, and Shefali Kumar, and sophomores Juliet Bayer, Natalie Roney, Yannice Crawford, Nolan Washbourn, Lia Sitrin, Hana Bahlawan, Erin Chang, and Jake Naroden.

Bayer and Elwood started off the night strong with their performance of “Cold Coffee” by Ed Sheeran. Other highlights included the performance of 21 Pilots’ “Goner” by  Tergevorkian and Choe, Imagine Dragons’ “Demons” by Bardon and Jaucian, Adele’s “Love Song” by Jordan, Priscilla Ahn’s “Leave the Light on” by Kim and Kohlenstein, Blink 182’s “I Miss You” by the Bayer sisters and Bardon, and Chang’s “Lovers” by Kathleen Battle. The show ended on a great note with the performance of an original song by Wouters entitled “White Lines” with Bardon.

In addition to live performances, students were also able to admire some beautiful works of art around the room and between acts. The art was the work of  students such as Sarah Kreiswirth, Tiffany Guo, Anna Liu, Emily Yang, Carolyn Schultz, Anh Hoang, James Zhang, Vi Madrazo, and Jay Mendapara. Each student is either a member of NAHS, or someone who opted for their hard work to be displayed. Paintings, drawings, photographs, and other forms of art were shown.

If you missed out on the fun, and are up for a night filled with great art, music, and food, consider performing in or attending the next Coffee House on April 15. This event will be open to all HHS students, so make sure to bring your school ID, friends, and a canned food item to donate.
