Our Hillsborough Raiders garnered a huge win last Friday against North Hunterdon, with a final score of 48-17.  This game was also Senior Night for all Senior football, cheerleader, and band participants.

Head coach Kevin Carty could not be happier with the boys’ performance on the field.  What really started the team off on the right foot was Charles Amankwaa’s interception return, which was an amazing individual play.

Tyler Boatwright had two long touchdown runs, David Amankwaa added two touchdowns of his own, and Matt Moore executed two touchdown passes.

“It was a really exciting night for us all together,” Carty said.  “There were so many big plays throughout the game, and the boys executed very well.”

Starting the night off with many exciting, emotional events helped amp the boys up to playing their absolute best.  Three retired NFL players, Shaun O’Hara who won a Superbowl with the Giants, and Shawn Mayer who won a Superbowl with the Patriots were able to attend the game also.

The two extremely successful football players both attended Hillsborough High School, walking through the same exact halls as us today, and practicing on the same grounds as the boys do to this day.

“When they can relate to somebody like that, it has to boost their energy,” Carty said.  “O’Hara even talked to the team before they went out, and having someone as successful as he is talk to the boys must do something for them.”

Our school received three golden footballs from three famous alumni, including Ricky Proehl who unfortunately could not make it for the ceremony.

With such a successful night, the boys will look to stay on the winning side this Friday when they travel to Franklin.  Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
