Friday nights are no longer filled with extravagant outfits, hundreds of cheering fans, and intense football games here at HHS.  While the season seemed to go by in a flash, the memories of this season will live on forever.

Looking back on this season, the boys had many rewarding times as a team.  Beating Elizabeth, Philipsburg and North Hunterdon were all memorable wins for the boys.

“Throughout the year the guys worked really hard, they established good work ethic and things that we can use to build on for the upcoming years,” head coach Kevin Carty said.

After this season, Hillsborough is losing many valuable senior players. On the defensive line, seniors Kyle Richardson and Jacob Lubas will graduate this spring.  Senior Luke Jansen was a versatile player for the team, making plays on both defense and offense throughout the season.

Senior David Amankwaa was present in nearly every play of every game, making explosive plays throughout this season.

On the offensive line and tight end areas, seniors Jake Pollak, Nick Pezza, Collin Purdy, Brandon Nitschke, Nick Coira, Matt Hendrix, and Greg Alboum will be missed next year.

Despite the losses of these vital players, Carty has high expectations for next year, especially the rising upperclassmen.

“We have a lot of really good players returning so I will love to see them become even more dominant,” Carty said.

Carty has high expectations for returning players such as Jackson Parham, Tyler Boatwright, Jack Edwards, Matt Moore, Ryan Wheaton, Charles Amankwaa, Justin Brown, and many more.

“I greatly appreciate the way the boys work as a group,” Carty said.  “The way they care about football and about each other is amazing.  We are a really unselfish team.”

This season the team had a total of 38 touchdowns, making the total touchdown points 228. Defense had 521 total tackles, 16 sacks, and 11 interceptions.

Offense had 1,395 total rushing yards from 269 carriers and 95 completed passes.

As the boys have some time off they plan to rest up a bit, then get right back to the hard work they’re used to.  Everyone has high hopes for next season, expecting another very successful season.
