On Jan. 22, The Pirate-Princess Party/Fundraiser was held at HES. The party was organized by the Sophomore class and was held for children age three through seven. Over 30 kids attended, dressed in pirate outfits and princess dresses.

The morning started with gathering into different groups based on age, and then a rotation through different events took place. Volunteers from the sophomore class attended and helped play games and do other activities. Limbo, Freeze Dance, and storytime were a few different things that kids got to enjoy. Sophomore Laurel Walsh face-painted many kids with incredible and artistic designs. Pizza, cupcakes, and juice were served and donated from Wegmans.

“Getting to hangout with the kids was so much fun,” sophomore Brielle Seidel said. “They were so energetic and just wanted to play games and hangout with us. We also got to raise money for our class which made it even better.”

The kids also got to color and do a bean bag toss, but the highlight of the day was a treasure hunt led by Class President Connor Leoni. By following and solving a path of unique clues throughout the halls of HES, the children navigated through the tasks to find a treasure chest filled with chocolate gold coins.

“Seeing the faces of the kids light up after finding the treasure was too awesome,” sophomore Braden Stack said. “Everyone had a great time getting dressed up and it was definitely a cool and unique way to fund raise.”

The playlist that was playing during the party was also a hit with the kids, featuring songs like “Let it go!” and the theme song to Pirates of the Caribbean. This furthered the fun and excitement of the day and the dance party that was held after lunch was a great time for kids and sophomores alike.

Throughout the day, there was no shortage of smiles on kids happy to have some fun with friends on a cold January day. Even the parents who got to see everyone dressed up and having a great time left with smiles on their faces.
