On Friday, Feb. 17 HHS held its second Coffeehouse of the year. Coffeehouse is hosted by the National Art Honors Society (NAHS) and the Music Honors Society, known as Tri-M. NAHS and Tri M give students the opportunity to share their music and art in a very supportive crowd of their peers.

Senior Julia Cipparulo, a member of Tri-M, says that the atmosphere of Coffeehouse, in addition to the food provided, is what makes the night so special.

“I love seeing everyone come together and enjoy music” Cipparulo said.

Tri-M and NAHS hold auditions for coffeehouse, giving anyone the chance to showcase their talents. Some of the performers included seniors Emma Seiwell, Kira Diminico, Deepti Kumar, juniors Olivia Johnsen, Grace Cofino, Erin Chang, Josh Mathew, and Britney Komoroski.  Also featured was the art of Stutee Patel, Melissa Aleo, Becca Coviello, Emily Jolly, and more.

Junior Raphael George was one of many who sang throughout the night. Singing Bruno Mars’s “When I was your Man” and James Arthur’s “Say you won’t Let Go”, George said that it was an amazing feeling to sing for his friends.

“I just love to perform, and performing in front of my friends makes it even better,” George said “There are so many things that make coffeehouse great. The people who host and run it, the food, the audience, and the performers make it perfect.”

Right before taking the stage, George surprised the crowd with a “promposal” to junior Gina Clementi. His public proposal included a sign that read “Gina, I’d like to keep this short and sweet like you… Prom?”, which pulled at the emotions of the entire audience.

Fortunately, this is not the last event NAHS and Tri-M will be holding this year. HHS will be having its third Coffeehouse on Friday April 7, don’t miss out on seeing the future stars of HHS!
