On the first Monday of every month, there is a difference in the atmosphere at Hillsborough High School: the colors seem brighter, the air seems fresher, and everything seems to be looking up. This can be accredited to one thing, and one thing only: tortellini day.

For this one magical monthly day, the cafeteria serves the most delicious tortellini alfredo served in any high school in New Jersey, and the best meal served at Hillsborough High School.

The tortellini pieces themselves come in several different colors, from the traditional white pasta color, to green, to orange. When several students were surveyed, all agreed that orange was definitely the best color, maintaining the integrity of the pasta while adding a pop of whimsicality.

Each of these pasta pieces are magically infused with delightful cheese filling, which adds an incredible pop of flavor to the delectable pieces.

Topping these delightful morsels of cheesy deliciousness is a thick, rich alfredo sauce, which adequately coats every single pasta piece to achieve the pinnacle of moistness.

Accompanying the pasta is a piece of highly flavorful garlic bread. These wedges of grainy goodness are noticeably not whole-wheat, a major win for both the cafeteria and students alike. Each bite produces a fantastic balance between the smooth buttery flavor and a sharp garlic essence, leading to the perfect overall taste.

Tortellini day certainly is the crowning achievement of the cafeteria staff, and, in my personal opinion, is the best day of the month every month.
