The Hillsborough High School football team rallied together to defeat Franklin in the annual Homecoming game. The Raiders got off to a great start and after the first half they led 21-7. The Raiders knew this was a huge game going into the last two games before entering the playoffs.

Senior quarterback Matt Moore, thanks to another stellar performance, put on a show for one of the biggest student sections of the year. After winning player of the week earlier in the year, Moore was nominated once again. After completing 15 of 28 passing attempts for 259 yards, he most certainly qualified for another nomination this week.

Moore connected with senior Jackson Parham for two touchdowns, and classmates Justin Brown and Noah Quick for two more scoring strikes to end the night with four touchdown passes. To top it all off senior Tyler Boatwright scampered for a 61-yard run to sail into the end zone in the fourth quarter to put the nail in the coffin at 35-14.

Lots of energy filled the stadium as homecoming proves to be one of the biggest draws on the athletic calendar. The Raiders certainly provided the crowd with dazzling plays on both sides of the ball, making it an exciting game for all in maroon and gold.

For Quick, the game provided his first touchdown on the year, and it could not have come at a better time.

“It was very exciting getting my first one of the season at our homecoming game,” Quick said. “The environment that night was incredible.”

Currently, the team is sitting at 5-3 and looking good entering the last game of the year. They will continue working hard and sticking to their motto from the start…win. The 1-7 Montgomery Cougars will come to HHS looking to steal a win from Hillsborough on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.

“As long as we do our jobs and are more physical, we should be able to pound them,” Quick said.
