On Oct. 28, HHS held its annual Homecoming Dance in celebration of the Raider win against Franklin on Friday night. Students dressed to the nines and danced to a mix of today’s hits and classics in the cafeteria.

The student body owes a big thank you to members of student council, who transformed the commons into an “Under the Sea” theme.

“We chose ‘Under the Sea’ because we wanted a creative theme that most people would enjoy,” student council secretary Mackenzie Kiernan said. “We wanted everyone to enjoy the dance, but especially the members of the class of 2018 since this would be their last homecoming.”

Though most students were in high spirits, some seniors were sad to see the passing of their last Homecoming Dance.

“I’ve gone to homecoming every single year,” senior Michael DeLucia said. “I’m more sad than I thought I would be about it being over, but I’m glad to have the memories from all four dances.”

As per HHS tradition, the Homecoming King and Queen were introduced halfway through the dance. This year’s winners, seniors Joey Sabo and Grace Dinunzi, slow danced to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” They were accompanied by the other winning couples from each grade, freshmen Alexa Ciccarelli and Jason Chedid, sophomores Maximus Kim and Alan Ji, juniors Peyton Quackenbush and Jessie Previte, and seniors Taylor Chin and Steve Grober, Kennedy Penn and Rachel Karan, and Samantha Harding and Ryan McCaffery.

“I was shocked when they called our names,” Sabo said. “It was truly an unforgettable experience that I got to share with Grace.”

After a packed weekend of school spirit, the students of HHS thank all of the people that make homecoming possible, including student council members, student council advisors, and faculty chaperones.
