One video game has taken the world by storm. Fortnite, available on PC, Xbox, and Playstation, is extremely popular amongst today’s video gamers.

Now more than ever, Snapchat stories are flooded with pictures showcasing Fortnite victories, and conversations are centered around stories from the craziest of games.

Fortnite has become the focal point of people of all ages across the entire globe. Fortnite is a game that is similar to the Hunger Games. The “battle royale” format begins with 100 players on a server. A player can play solo by himself, duo with one other player, or a squad with three other players.

The map is full of houses, farms, towns, cities, and even lakes that players can find themselves. Once they land, players rush to acquire numerous types of weapons, shield potions, and bandages.

Throughout the game, the map shrinks as the “circle” closes around players. If players fail to move inside the circle, their health is destroyed by the storm.

The last player, duo, or squad standing is declared the victor/victors.

Freshman Zachary Cole is an avid Fortnite player himself. Playing squad, duo, and solo formats, Cole boast of various wins to his name.

“Fortnite is one of my favorite video games,” Cole said. “It is filled with action and strategy, and I love playing with my friends.”

Senior Zackary Tynan enjoys Fortnite too.

“Fortnite has brought back that camaraderie that has been lost from gaming over recent years,” Tynan said. “It has given friends the chance to bond over something so simple, yet so exhilarating.”

While some believed that the Fortnite craze would end quickly after the game’s release, it has really just begun. So, for those of you looking for something fun to consume your free time, consider Fortnite.
