Not once, not twice, but thrice. For the third time in a row, girls swim won the sectional title this year over rival Montgomery. With a final score of 103 over Montgomery’s 63, girls swim left the meet full of excitement and pride.

On Feb. 15, Hillsborough girls swim faced rivals Montgomery for the sectional title of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Public A group. The seniors came into the meet looking to continue their streak of sectional wins and looking to leave with a three-peat in their back pockets.

The win was a team effort and every first, second, and third place swimmer contributed to the team’s points. Standing out from the rest was senior Alexandra Temple and freshman Danielle D’Ambrosio

Temple placed second in the 200 IM and first in the 100 Backstroke. As for D’Ambrosio, she placed first in the 200 freestyle, first in the 100 freestyle, and was apart of the of 200 freestyle relay that also finished first. Juniors Jordan McChesney and Sankya Parvatrao were also key swimmers in the relay.

“Winning for the third time in a row was an indescribable feeling,” Parvatrao said. “Individually, we are all strong swimmers but when we work together on a team we are truly unstoppable.”

The sectional meet was one of the last meets for this year’s seniors. After the final month of the season, the team finished with a record of 8-2, both of their losses came at the hands of rival Bridgewater-Raritan.

As the season draws to a close the seniors say goodbye to a group of friends that have become more like family than teammates. The team hopes to continue their legacy of sectional champs again next year.
