Softball team looks foward to starting a new season
March 29, 2018
With the start of spring sports, the softball team is looking forward to the new season. After finishing 5-13 and losing in the first round of the state tournament last year, the team is hoping to bounce back.
Head coach Cheryl Iaione expects to have a better season this year knowing how they performed last year.
“I expect to rebound from a subpar season,” Iaione said. “The attitudes have been great and the girls have been working hard. If that continues this team can accomplish a lot.”
Despite losing key seniors last year, the team is returning six varsity players who have two to three years of varsity level experience. Grace Cofino, Kelsey Galevich, Julia Kwiatek, Delaney Smith, Karlie Manco, and Courtney Wengryn are all returning to make a difference this season. With several seniors graduating, Coach Iaione expects her younger players to make a difference.
“I expect Emily Orr and Lauren Spalluto, who were part time players last year to make contributions this year,” Iaione said.
The lady Raiders will look to open their season with a win on April 3, against Hunterdon Central.
