This past week, on Sept.11, Hillsborough opened up a new franchise restaurant, Chipotle Mexican Grill. Local officials, and the franchise owner, cut the ribbon Tuesday morning, unveiling the heavily anticipated eatery.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is located at the shopping center next to Nelson’s Corner. At the site of the old Blockbuster Video that closed in 2013, residents are excited for a new establishment in town to welcome hungry customers.

Chipotle includes a variety of different foods from traditional Mexican cuisine, as well as vegetarian options. Salads, bowls, burritos, and tacos are all a part of the extensive “create your own” experience offered at Chipotle. For those not familiar with this system, a customer follows the line down as they select exactly which fresh ingredient they want for their meal.

Aside from the main filling ingredients of steak, chicken, barbacoa, and sofritas, a slew of other naturally delicious ingredients can be added to one’s lunch or dinner. Different rices, salsas, and additional toppings, such as guacamole and queso, are also available to add to one’s meal. For those who have yet to attend, you will be met with fast service and delightful greetings from employees — an aspect that adds to the comfortable environment of the restaurant.

Along with serving as an eatery, Chipotle is also a potential new workplace for qualified individuals. As a new establishment, they are always in need of workers, so students of working age that are looking for a job should keep Chipotle in mind.

Many students can already be found behind the counters at Chipotle.

“You’re on your feet at all times, and working in the kitchen is manual labor,” senior Vincent Gamberdella said. “If you’re looking for a laid-back job where you can slack off, Chipotle isn’t the place for you.”

So, for anyone interested in a new place to eat or work, Chipotle is the destination for you.
