Now that Halloween is here, everyone is out looking for their last minute costume accessories. Every year, new costumes are being created and worn by kids at the high school.

Over the years, there have been many outstanding costumes and group costumes such as inflatable dinosaurs, the smurfs, Mario and Luigi, aliens, and many others. Whether it involves one person or 50 people, there are students who do costumes individually, in small groups, or very large groups.

It is so enjoyable to dress up, and enter in the costume contest as well. The contest is a way for everyone to show off their costumes with pride. There are various categories in which winners are crowned for both group and individual costumes. A winning group costume a few years ago was the cast of Orange Is The New Black, a prominent Netflix series. All of the participants went full out, dressing in orange jumpsuits.

Halloween is definitely a favorite time of year for lots of students and teachers in school. Some go all out with face paint, accessories, handmade clothes, and much more. Even teachers often participate in the festivities, donning their own costumes and handing out treats to their students.

Trick-or-treating is another huge part of Halloween, and never gets old in Hillsborough. Kids go to all different neighborhoods to trick or treat, and fill a pillowcase with delicious candy and goodies.

During this time of year there are also so many different Halloween attractions around. Norz Hill Farm in Hillsborough is a farm that allows one to go pumpkin picking, take a haunted hay rids, and weave through scary mazes. There are also many apple orchards around town to pick the delightful fruit.

Not too far away is the Eastern State Penitentiary, which is known to be the scariest experience on the east coast. It is a former American prison, and now has come to be a very popular Halloween attraction. Six Flags always has its Fright Fest going on around this time, which has people dressed up in scary costumes everywhere you look.

There are just so many fun activities to do during the month of October to keep students occupied.
