Despite the competition cheer team getting the axe in 2015, it is now back and better than ever. Now in the second year of its rebirth, the team is going to be able to compete in Nationals. Despite competing in a small division, consisting of eight to fourteen cheerleaders, the cheer team will battle teams from all across the country.

In their last competition, the team won Regionals to earn a bid to perform at Nationals in Disney World. The team of twelve are so happy to be able to compete in Nationals, and for some, they are going to nationals for the second time in two years. With all the help from coaches Danielle Ciarletta and Linda Migliore, the team are not only in it to win it, but are in it because they love it doing it.

The cheerleaders spend every day after school practicing for two to three hours a day and compete on the weekends. From cheering at the football games in the fall to cheering at wrestling matches and basketball games in the winter, there is never an off-season. The girls are always busy and have to keep up with their full schedules.

“I feel like we worked as a team and really came together and it makes us closer because now we can all go to Nationals together,” senior Katie Jennings said.

As a team, their goal is to win Nationals which requires a lot of hard work. The amount of time and effort they spend practicing, all comes together and pays off in the end.

The coaches and girls have gotten to know each other very well after spending so much time together. There are lots of hours spent in the gym practicing, however, they also do many other activities and celebrations, outside of cheer. All the girls are so close and through the years have made lots of memories.

“Through my four years of HHS Cheer I have never had a team as close as this years,” senior Emily Krawski said. “We are all great friends who work extremely hard to achieve our goals. We have competed in many competitions along with going to Nationals in Disney. I am so glad I got to have an experience like I did through the program of Boro Cheer, it is one I will never forget.”
