Birdbox, the new Netflix original that everyone is raving about, was available for streaming at the end of 2018, and quickly became one of the most watched original movies. Much of the movie revolves around the mysterious forces which drive people to suicide or madness with just one sighting.

The main character Malorie Hayes, played by Sandra Bullock, is pregnant during this time while also trying to save herself. She manages to find a safe house that takes her in during the chaos. Coincidentally, there is another pregnant woman in the house for Hayes to commiserate with. The events in this film are insane and like nothing ever seen before. This mystery is like no other and is the reason everyone is talking about the film.

Occupants of the safe house cannot leave the house without a blindfold, otherwise they will be exposed to the force which immediately results in madness. This movie might be too violent for some, so the audience is for people that like a mystery and a little bit of a scare. Trying to survive for five years in these conditions is extremely difficult, especially with children. With constant deaths, survivors are forced to always be on the hunt for food and resources.

Malorie Hayes is eventually the only adult left in the house with her child, named Boy, and the other woman’s child, named Girl. She had promised the other woman to take care of her child if something were to happen to her. Malorie took her baby in when the force had taken over everyone in the house. She made it clear to both kids that the only way to survive is to never take off the blindfold and always listen to her.

For five years, the three of them practiced, made trails, and mastered ways around the force, before hearing there was a safe place past the rapids on the river. The rapids were deadly, especially with everyone being blindfolded. However, they are ready for the risk as life depends on the journey. They are out in the open river for days, freezing and wet.

This Netflix original is so intriguing and keeps viewers enthralled. Perhaps it is time to see what all the fuss is about.
