With the spring season rapidly approaching, the boys lacrosse team is preparing for a new campaign. The boys opened the season Mar. 27 against North Hunterdon. The Raiders were hoping to start the season on a good note, and they did not disappoint.

In a highly contested battle, Hillsborough won the match up 11-7. The Raiders were in control for the first half leading 7-3. Despite slow start, the Lions were able to contain the Raiders only allowing four goals the whole second half. However, the defensive effort was not enough to get the win.

Senior goalie Matt Wybraniec had a productive day with five saves while allowing just three goals allowed. Sophomore goalie Joey Schwarz also made an impact in the game producing eight saves with four goals allowed.

The offense was consistent the whole game putting pressure on North Hunterdon’s defense. The Raiders had eight different people score throughout the whole game. Junior Tom Ramsey led the team with three goals and one assist, and sophomore Andrew Ryan had two goals and two assists.

“It felt good being out there on the field again,” Ramsey said. “Every year I look forward to the season, and I am glad we got off to a great start.”

The Raiders hope to continue the success they had, as they take on Watchung Hills on Mar. 30. Last season the Raiders were 0-2 against the Warriors, but hope to get different outcomes this time around.
